Parts Assistant

At Jones Food Store Equipment, we supply, install, and service refrigeration equipment primarily for supermarkets throughout British Columbia. Founded in 1971, our strong relationships with the leaders in the industry are built on a foundation of integrity and innovation.

Position Overview:

We currently have an opportunity to join our Parts Department. Working closely with the Parts Manager and Inventory Controller, this position offers an opportunity to learn and excel at a wide variety of tasks in the sales of parts to our customers and the acquisition and distribution of parts internally.

This position is comprised of two main functions:

1. Providing backup support to our Parts Manager in the purchasing, receiving, and sale of parts.

2. Physically counting inventory of parts in our fleet of service vans and warehouse locations. The vans will typically be counted outdoors and takes approximately 3-6 hours per van. We have four service branches that our technicians are based out of; inventory counts will take place in the following cities. The successful candidate will be required to travel within the province 3-6 times per year, for up to a week each time.

a. Burnaby - 45 vans, plus warehouse

b. Parksville - 15 vans, plus warehouse

c. Victoria - 5 vans, plus warehouse

d. Interior (Okanagan) - 3 vans

Primary Job Functions

• Physical count of inventory.
• Reconciliation of inventory variance using Sage accounting software.
• Oversight and management of stock levels.
• Tagging and labeling parts and equipment;
• Assembling and packaging orders;
• Answering customer and internal inquiries and assisting with parts needs.
• Assisting with shipping and receiving;
• Completing computerized data entry;
• Contacting vendors to order products and request invoices;
• Performs related duties as needed or assigned.

Skills Required

• Attention to detail/ strong organizational ability.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills;
• Ability to lift 30 lbs;
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn;
• Reliable and punctual;
• High School Diploma or GED
• Must have valid BC driver's license

Assets:

• Previous warehouse experience
• Previous experience in a parts department
• Previous shipping experience
• Previous Sage / Accpac experience
• Previous customer service experience

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $26.00-$32.00 per hour
