Director of Recreation LTC

The Village of Riverbank Terrace located in Ottawa Ontario has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Recreation to join their team.

Status: Permanent Full-Time
Location: 100 Smyth Road K1H 0A7 Ottawa ON
Expected Start Date : Fall 2026/Jan 2027

The expected hiring range for this position is $55000 to $59400. This role falls within a broader internal salary band with growth opportunities based ondemonstratedperformance.

Successful candidates will be required to provide an acceptable Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) and a Tuberculosis (TB) screening test before starting.

As a new Director of Recreation you will:

• Have a diploma or degree in Recreation/Leisure Studies and/or Gerontology or Equivalent from a community college or university
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a Health Care Setting
• Demonstrate previous leadership experience
• Respect the rights and dignity of all residents families team members and visitors to the village and addresses any requests with professionalism and care

As a new Director of Recreation joining our Village Team it would be an ASSET but not required for you to having the following :

• Knowledge of the five domains in Therapeutic Recreation that contribute to an individuals health
• Leadership Experience
• Knowledge of recreational therapy practices methods techniques and opportunities to improve residents wellbeing and holistic health
• Knowledge of relevant policies procedures legislation regulations and best practices (e.g. Long Term Care Act 2007 RHRA act and standards supplies equipment ordering etc.)
• F Class License
• Experience with shift scheduling department spending and budget
• Skills Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams
• Have exceptional time management skills and ability to work in collaboration with a team
• Support and embrace our resident-centred social culture and be proud to deliver the highest quality of customer service to our residents
