Speech-Language Pathologist- Children's Hospital

The Speech-Language Pathologist (S-LP) working at Children's Hospital will support outpatients and inpatients in an interdisciplinary model of care. S-LPs assess, treat and develop patient-centred, evidence-based care plans for a variety of conditions that affect swallowing and communication. The SLP will participate in interprofessional clinics, rounds, case discussions and coordination of care. This role will support dysphagia care, cleft-lip and palate, as well as other clinical services as needed.

In alignment with the mission of London Health Sciences Centre, teaching, quality care initiatives and research may be required.

Regular Full- Time

Rate of Pay: $54.93 per hour - $68.67 per hour

Hours of Work: 37.50 hours per week

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent as acceptable by the hospital
• Current Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
• Minimum of one (1) year of recent, related experience; two (2) years preferred
• Experience in feeding and swallowing (clinical and instrumental)
• Experience in selecting tools to assess speech, language, cognition and social communication
• Ability to provide education and support regarding speech language pathology
• Demonstrated understanding of and ability to use and interpret video fluoroscopic studies
• Strong understanding of various medical conditions and their impact on speech, language, cognitive communication and feeding and swallowing
• Knowledge of communication devices and assistive technologies to support augmentative and alternative communication
• Demonstrated understanding of the role of a speech language pathologist in an acute care academic setting
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, Purpose, and Values
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
