Job Summary:
Reporting to the Client Support Services Manager, the Family Support Worker is responsible for planning, implementing and administering the Teslin Tlingit Council’s Family Services Program and participating in joint case management as part of the Health and Social staff team.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plans, implements and administers Teslin Tlingit Council’s Case Management practices with families
- Provides a policy development, mentoring, and educative role in case management for TTC Health and Social Department;
- Performs a variety of administrative functions, including but not limited to developing and maintaining case management records, reports and statistics required to implement and evaluate case management programs; providing monthly reports on program activities, client services statistics and work plan; reporting case management activities and statistics to the Client Support Services Manager and recommending modifications to policies to deal with difficulties or inconsistencies;
- Assisting in the development and monitoring of annual work plans and budgets;
- Assisting with the development and delivery of a variety of Departmental projects including the annual holiday dinner and seasonal food hampers for families.
Education & Experience:
- Degree in Social Work or Humanities Field from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 2 years experience in providing client-based services, case management and/or counselling ; or a two-year diploma in Social Services, or Community/ Human Services fields with significant assessment, case management and counselling experience. Experience working with First Nations is essential;
- Possess a working knowledge of health, financial, social, employment, education and funding agencies and organizations;
Training and experience in negotiation, conflict resolution, communications and life skills an asset;
Knowledge of Yukon First Nations’ history, culture, goals and Governments;
Understanding of self-esteem and personal and cultural identity issues and development strategies;
Understanding of substance use disorders and family violence issues;
Understanding of and experience working with an integrated, holistic model of human services;

$40 - $45 per hour
