Construction Financial Coordinator
As a Construction Financial Coordinator, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting the financial aspects of construction projects. You'll work closely with project managers, vendors and contractors to ensure that projects are completed within budget. By effectively monitoring budgets and costs, and providing a financial outlook to mitigate cost overruns, you'll contribute to the overall financial success of projects.
This is a transition role where you will participate in helping keep daily accounting up to date while we develop new systems. Through this time the typical expectations are to keep up with input of all accounts payable and other accounting inputs, cash flow, bank & credit card reconciliations, oversite of open purchase orders, create redundance in billing and support the integration of the new systems while building in the following into your expectations:
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project managers to develop accurate and comprehensive project budgets. This includes analyzing project requirements, estimating costs, and identifying potential financial risks
- Verify the accuracy of contractor invoices and input into system and coordinate with accounting to facilitate timely payments.
- Regularly monitor costs throughout the construction process, identifying discrepancies and/or potential cost overruns
- Prepare detailed financial reports, including cost breakdowns, forecasts, variance analyses, and project cash flow projections daily/weekly/monthly.
- Present financial information to project managers in a clear and understandable manner.
- Evaluate bids and/or quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure adherence to budget.
- Support the project managers with the negotiation of pricing and contracts to secure favourable terms for the project.
- Evaluate change orders and assess their impact on project costs and schedules and negotiate change order terms with contractors to minimize financial impact.
- Resolve any discrepancies or billing issues to maintain positive relationships with vendors.
- Identify potential financial risks associated with construction projects and support the strategies to mitigate them. This may involve implementing contingency plans or revising project projections.
Qualifications:
- Experience in residential construction accounting, estimating or purchasing.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as: Excel, QuickBooks, Acumatica and construction-specific accounting & management software
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
