Position Summary
We are looking for a passionate and motivated Assistant Studio Manager to join our leadership team. In this role, you'll support the Studio Manager in managing training operations, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring a consistently high-quality experience for our clients. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced coach looking to grow into a leadership role in a dynamic and tight-knit fitness community.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-level coaching during personal interactions and group sessions
- Assist with staff onboarding, training, and mentorship
- Support program design and ensure consistency in coaching methodology
- Help maintain the gym's standards of safety, cleanliness, and professionalism
- Participate in client consultations, assessments, and goal tracking
- Foster community engagement and retention through strong relationship-building
- Take part in team meetings, continuing education, and brand development initiatives
- Step in to lead in the absence of the Studio Manager
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience leading group fitness classes in a high-energy studio or boutique fitness environment (HIIT, circuit, functional, strength-based, etc.).
- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience, ideally in a group fitness, wellness, or customer service setting.
- Certified through a recognized Canadian or international body (e.g., canfitpro, CSEP, ACE, NASM, or equivalent group fitness certification).
- Strong stage presence and the ability to command a room while creating a motivating and inclusive class environment.
- Mature, professional demeanour with excellent communication, conflict-resolution, and team-building skills.
- Experience supporting and mentoring other instructors to ensure consistency and quality across classes.
- Familiarity with studio operations such as instructor scheduling, client experience, and supporting membership goals.
- Committed to fostering a safe, welcoming, and positive atmosphere for a diverse group of clients, including older adults or those new to fitness.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPR-C / AED certification
- Experience working with and tailoring programming.
- Comfortable assisting with back-end studio tasks (inventory, basic admin, class coverage coordination).
- Knowledge of class booking platforms or studio management systems (e.g., Mindbody, Glofox, WellnessLiving, etc.).
- Passion for helping others, continuous learning, and collaborative teamwork
- Experience with fitness technology and client tracking tools is an asset
- Legal right to work in Canada
