Revelstoke Mountain Resort (RMR) is a division of Canada’s largest privately held hospitality company, Northland Properties Corporation (NPC), and since its inception in 2007, we have gained a reputation for big mountain riding, legendary powder and an authentic Canadian resort town.
Job Summary
The Director, Human Resources is a strategic and operational HR leadership role responsible for supporting the Senior Director, Human Resources in the development and execution of the people and culture strategy across the mountain division.
Based in Revelstoke, this role works closely with the Senior Director, Human Resources and resort leadership to ensure HR strategy is aligned across the mountain division while remaining responsive to the unique operational realities of each business. The Director serves as a key link between HR priorities and day-to-day resort execution, helping translate organizational strategy into practical programs, leadership practices, and employee experiences.
The role provides HR leadership across Revelstoke Mountain Resort's diverse operations, including mountain operations, lodging, food and beverage, retail, guest services, real estate, development, and support functions. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring both strategic perspective and strong operational credibility. The successful candidate will help shape the division's people strategy while ensuring leaders have the tools, support, and accountability required to execute it effectively.
Job Responsibilities
People Strategy & Leadership
- Support the Senior Director in developing and executing the mountain division's people and culture strategy, priorities, and initiatives.
- Partner with senior leaders to align workforce, talent, culture, and organizational priorities with business objectives.
- Strengthen leadership capability, accountability, succession planning, talent management, and organizational effectiveness.
- Use employee engagement, workforce data, and other insights to identify priorities and drive continuous improvement.
- Coach and influence leaders to build high-performing, engaged, and accountable teams.
HR Leadership & Employee Relations
- Provide senior HR partnership and leadership across Revelstoke Mountain Resort, ensuring effective and consistent HR service delivery.
- Oversee complex employee relations matters, investigations, performance management, organizational change, and other sensitive issues.
- Lead workforce strategies related to attraction, recruitment, retention, seasonal staffing, and workforce planning.
- Ensure HR practices align with company policies, employment standards, human rights requirements, and other applicable legislation.
- Partner with leaders to strengthen the employee experience from recruitment through development and retention.
Occupational Health & Safety
- Provide leadership and oversight of the resort's Occupational Health & Safety program in partnership with the OHS team and operational leaders.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure leaders understand and fulfill their health and safety responsibilities.
- Monitor OHS performance, risks, compliance, and key initiatives and provide recommendations to senior leadership.
- Support the development and implementation of OHS strategies, programs, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Senior Leadership Partnership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Senior Director, Human Resources and resort leadership on people, culture, workforce, OHS, and organizational matters.
- Provide analysis, recommendations, and operational insight to support strategic decision-making.
- Identify emerging people and organizational risks and opportunities and develop proactive solutions.
- Represent HR leadership in senior leadership meetings, cross-functional initiatives, and divisional projects as required.
What You Bring
- Progressive HR leadership experience in a complex, fast-paced, multi-department environment; hospitality, tourism, mountain resort, retail, or seasonal experience is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with senior leaders on people strategy, organizational effectiveness, employee relations, and workforce planning.
- Strong knowledge of HR legislation, employee relations, investigations, performance management, and compliance.
- Experience providing leadership or oversight of OHS programs and working with operational leaders to strengthen safety culture.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to balance strategic priorities with operational realities.
- Proven ability to influence, coach, and build trusted relationships with leaders at all levels.
- Strong judgment, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or a related field; CPHR and/or OHS designation is an asset.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting Salary: $95,000.00 annually. Salary is negotiable based on the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills, and relevant experience.
