Key responsibilities

• Preparing instructional and testing materials relevant to the course being taught.
• Instructing/teaching/testing.
• Marking/grading of exams and assignments etc.
• Providing constructive feedback to students.
• Maintaining regular office hours.

In the event that the course offers a field component, the instructor will be required to participate in training relating to due diligence and safety. The instructor will also be required to develop due diligence and safety plans for the specific field opportunity and to follow those plans in the field.

Qualifications

• Master's degree, Ph.D. or Ph.D. candidate preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in the English language is required.
• Background/specialization in subject area required.
• Demonstrated competence in post-secondary teaching required.
• Empathetic approach to the instructional needs and concerns of students is required.
• Previous teaching in the subject area or related area would be an asset.

Additional information

Class time: Tues, Thurs: 08:30-09:45 PSYC 2380, Psychology of Gender (3 credits): Must have successfully completed, with a grade B+ or better, PYSC 2380, Psychology of Gender, or its equivalent. Preference may be given to applicants who are, or will be, a registered student studying in the Department which is posting the employment opportunity at the time that the duties of the position commence, who are in Social and Personality Psychology, have taken workshops on course development/training techniques, and experience as a Lecturer/Instructor for this or other related courses, or their equivalents. Supervise and schedule work assignments for Grader/Marker or Teaching Assistant, if assigned. May be required to assess and provide feedback to Department Head regarding administrative responsibilities for student grade appeals, requests for time extensions to complete work, deferred examinations, and other administrative duties that may arise.
