ABOUT THE TEAM
The Centre for Newcomer Integration (CNI) at RRC Polytech is supported by a diverse, multidisciplinary team of experienced faculty, instructional designers, educational assistants, program facilitators, student integration coordinators, and administrative staff who work together to support newcomer success. The team delivers accessible, settlement and/or employment-focused language and integration programming, helping students build English language, cultural, academic, and workplace skills to achieve their education and employment goals. Services are offered across Manitoba, with programming delivered in Winnipeg, Steinbach, Thompson, Arborg, and Portage la Prairie.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The incumbent will work closely with Program Managers to support and collaborate with instructors and assessment staff, ensuring consistent application of the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLBs) in LTC curriculum, teaching, services and projects. The incumbent works with Program Managers to establish overall delivery guidelines and expectations, works with assessment staff to communicate with internal stakeholders about required benchmark levels for various programs, and works with instructors to support curriculum development, assessment, materials and resource selection, and activity development through individual and small group meetings. Provides professional development workshops and manage longer-term projects related to curriculum implementation. Assists with the delivery of services, pilot programs, support program revision, and may oversee new program development.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Degree in Education or a related field (TESOL, English, Linguistics, International Development, Philology; Translation)
  • Formal training in TESOL -  TESL certification (TESL Canada recognized) or equivalent
  • Several years’ experience with English language instruction to adults that speak other languages
  • Experience with teacher training models and facilitating training for professionals
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Canadian Language Benchmarks
  • Leadership experience with a demonstrated team oriented and collaborative approach
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills which demonstrate the College values of learning, respect, integrity and contribution to community
  • Experience teaching and creating curriculum for low level and literacy students
  • Knowledge of academic, employment, socio-cultural and communicative skills
  • Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver blended (synchronous and asynchronous) instruction
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

NICE TO HAVE

  • Openness to using AI tools as relevant to role specific work
  • Certificate in Teaching for Learning or Adult Education
  • Experience developing curriculum and instructing at a post-secondary level
  • Experience teaching occupation-specific or employment-related language courses

  • Salary Range for this position:  $65,975 - $92,986 per annum
  • Generous Paid Vacation: full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year. Information on casual and part-time vacation accrual is outlined in the Collective Agreement or the Terms and Conditions for Excluded Employees as applicable
