Role Description The General Contractor is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB, responsible for overseeing day-to-day construction and renovation activities on residential and/or commercial properties. This role coordinates trades and subcontractors, manages project timelines, monitors budgets, and ensures that work meets quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The General Contractor will review plans and specifications, schedule inspections, procure materials, and resolve issues that arise on site. Daily responsibilities include communicating with property owners and internal stakeholders, updating project documentation, and ensuring that all work complies with building codes and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong General Contracting skills, including oversight of multiple trades and end-to-end project delivery.
  • Candidates should possess Project Management skills, such as scheduling, budgeting, resource coordination, and progress reporting.
  • Candidates should possess Construction and Construction Management skills, including site supervision, adherence to building codes, and safety compliance.
  • Candidates should possess Renovation experience, including planning, phasing, and executing upgrades in occupied or existing structures.
  • Additional beneficial qualifications include knowledge of local building regulations in Calgary, AB, experience with residential and/or commercial projects, and familiarity with construction management software.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, the ability to lead site teams, and a commitment to workplace safety are essential.
  • Relevant trade certification, journeyperson status, or a diploma/degree in construction management or a related field is an asset.
