Harm Reduction Paramedic

Responsible for overseeing our safe consumption site while on shift and ensure the compliance of the operational procedures and responding to medical emergencies. Services involve supervision of IV drug use, testing drugs, distributing and educating public on Naloxone use, educating on safer drug use technics, and providing referrals.
Responsibilities:
Develop report and build trust with people who access services.
Provide internal and external referrals to other medical and social services.
Provides paramedical services as needed to community members.
Provides direction and support to the harm reduction support workers.
Assists in de-escalation incidents as required, according to established protocols.
Maintains quiet, relaxed, hygienic, safe environment by following infection control procedures.
Acts in a professional and courteous manner at all times.

Qualifications:
Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) with current registration with College of Saskatchewan Paramedics preferably with minimum 1 year of experience.
Thorough understanding  and commitment to Harm Reduction.
Professional Assault Response Training (PART), ASIST, WHIMIS, TLR, TDG certifications are considered assets. (Training is available)
Exceptional interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills.
Thorough understanding of and experience working in programs serving clients with complex social needs including homelessness, mental health issues, addictions, and history of trauma.
Excellent judgement, discretion, diplomacy, creative, solutions-focused, team player.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment along with the ability to manage multiple duties simultaneously.
