Quality and Materials Assurance Technician

Job Responsibility:
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Quality and Materials Assurance Technician to join our dynamic team. As the Quality and Materials Assurance Technician, you will play a very important role in the manufacturing process of modular buildings. You will look after the materials needed in the product and the quality of the product in production.
Your responsibilities will include the implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of the Quality Program and Quality Manual compliant with CSA A277. Also, ensures products are consistently built according to the requirements of the applicable code. Quality materials play a big part in this, so you will be responsible for pricing, ordering, receiving, checking and picking materials.
Key Responsibilities
Quality control procedures:
- Establish and follow quality control protocols and inspection plans.
- Monitor production processes to identify potential quality issues and take corrective actions.
- Liaises with internal stakeholders to facilitate the development/revision and review of QP, QM, SOPs, Work Instructions, Associated Documents, standards, and training materials as required.
- Provides guidance, as required, to internal stakeholders related to the interpretation of QP and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated and serviceable.
- Ensure the contractor's materials are stored and handled according to the manufacturer's requirements.
- Conduct audits (internal, site, vendor) and reviews associated with Corrective Action and Preventive Actions.
- Ensure that the quality of the products meets set standards and specifications, by coordinating quality checks and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Materials:
- Tracking and coordinating the receipt, storage, and timely delivery of goods and materials.
- Pricing, negotiating and ordering supplies at reasonable notice and maintaining suitable inventory levels.
- Checking orders, bills, items received, inventory, and deliveries for accuracy, quality and condition, take corrective action if required.
- Interface with key stakeholders in a proactive manner to obtain and provide information, including procurement technical advice in support of overall operations.
- Recommend and implement cost reduction initiatives.
- Work within and promote Lean practices to meet departmental and divisional goals.
Documentation and reporting:
- Record inspection results and document any deviations from specifications.
- Generate detailed inspection reports highlighting quality issues and non-conformance.
- Communicate findings to production personnel and management.
- Generate and maintain quality records in support of the inspection and test plan.
- Document non-conformances in the NCR database and complete root cause analysis.
- Maintain records, report relevant information, and prepare any necessary documentation in relation to material pricing and flow.
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree with 1-3 years of related experience and on-the-go training, or a Diploma with 4-6 years of related experience and training.
- Dynamic and can multi-task and shift priorities in a demanding work environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and detail
- Quality Assurance or material procurement experience preferred.
- Experience in residential construction is an asset.
- Strong computer knowledge, particularly of MS Office 365, MS Teams and SharePoint.
- Analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and attention to detail skills required.
- Strong communication skills to interact with trades employees, co-workers and management.
- Strong relationship management skills and ability to deal with conflict.
- Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings.
- WHMIS, first aid, forklift, and aerial platform training are assets.
