FireSmart Mitigation Specialist Ontario

Contribute to wildfire management as a Mitigation Specialist with Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services in Ontario. This temporary role emphasizes mitigation, prevention, and community education in forestry. The Mitigation and Partnerships unit of Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services is looking for a qualified candidate. Your focus will be on developing FireSmart initiatives and risk mitigation programs to reduce the negative impacts of wildland fires. Key responsibilities include public outreach, partnership development, and supporting technical evaluations for communities across Ontario. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead development of Community Wildland Fire Protection Plans
• Deliver wildland fire risk mitigation programs
• Educate the public on preventative measures
• Facilitate fire suppression agreements with municipalities
• Conduct risk and hazard assessments in the field

Requirements:

• Knowledge of resource management practices
• Proven communication skills with stakeholders
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Project management experience in environmental settings
• Proficient with relevant software applications
