We're growing our Technology & Engineering team with multiple Software Developer openings across every level and squad. From SD3 to Senior Developer, we’re looking for talented engineers ready to make an impact at the intersection of culture, community, and commerce.

These roles are open to candidates based in Montreal and remotely in Toronto.

About Tech at SSENSE

Our team of developers drive the software solutions that enable core business functions and deliver seamless customer experiences; Whether that be how we move products through our supply chain and operations network or build the web experiences and applications that reach millions of customers directly.

We are looking for deep expertise in these core domains:

• Commerce & Customer Experience: Experience building high-traffic web applications, content publishing platforms, personalized customer experiences, or growth & marketing engines.

• Supply Chain & Operations: Experience with retail logistics, inventory and order management systems, finance domain integrations, fulfillment systems, or transportation networks.

What You'll Do

• Build & ship production software: Design, build, and maintain the services behind your squad's platform, whether that's a supply chain system, a customer-facing application, or the tools that power our web and app experiences.

• Integrate core systems: Build robust APIs and microservices connecting your team's systems to internal platforms, vendors, or customer-facing tools, depending on where you land.

• Raise the bar on code quality: Write clean, reusable code, run constructive code reviews, and monitor system performance to troubleshoot live issues.

• Ship reliably: Implement and refine CI/CD pipelines that keep your team's systems scalable and dependable.

• Grow the team around you: Contribute to our internal knowledge base, partner with incoming developers, and lead Show & Tell sessions.

Early on, you'll own features. Further along, you'll own services, set technical direction across squads, or shape architecture standards for the whole team.

What You'll Bring

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field

• Strong full-stack developer (TypeScript, Vue/React, Node.js) building backend services and REST APIs

• Experience with microservices, event-driven architecture (pub/sub), and container orchestration (Kubernetes)

• Solid grasp of algorithms, data structures, and software design patterns

• Skilled with PostgreSQL at scale and caching technologies (Fastly, Redis, Varnish)

• Proficient with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), Git, and testing at all levels (unit, contract, integration, E2E)

• Mobile App: Experience building iOS/android using React Native

The more senior the role, the deeper the bar; further along in your career, we'll expect independent architectural ownership, cross-squad technical leadership, or org-wide technical direction to match.

• Prior experience with retail logistics, the Finance domain, or supply chain & fulfillment operations or experience building customer-facing mobile and web applications, or custom internal tools, depending on where you land

• Practical exposure to prompt engineering (e.g., Few-Shot or Chain-of-Thought techniques) and agentic workflow design

• Sharp judgment for when an architectural decision is actually needed; and the confidence to make it
