Job Summary:

As a member of the BGIS Sustainable Cleaning Solutions Team you will be generally responsible for cleaning in a designated zone with an emphasis on quality control health and safety & striving to exceed client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Functioning as a core member of the operational team and reporting to the Manager/ Supervisor as a Cleaner you may be required to perform some of the following tasks as required by the Manager/Supervisor and needs of the client:

• Clean floors by sweeping scrubbing or vacuuming.
• Dry/wet mop (wash/scrub) and polish hard surface floors. (The washing/scrubbing of floors is done with handheld or auto large open applications automatic equipment may be used to perform these functions)
• Strip and finish hard surface floors manually or with power equipment (when required).
• Steam clean or shampoo carpets (when required).
• Transport garbage from drop points to garbage bins or compactor.
• Transport maintenance machinery where necessary between floors and job sites.
• Cleans and stores equipment and machinery used.
• Cleans glass areas requiring ladders scaffolding or other extension equipment to reach.
• Cleans washroom floors including stripping and finishing.
• Cleans stairwells and elevator cabs where ladders are required.
• Loads and unloads supplies and replenishes cleaning solutions.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Other duties that management may assign.
• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Remove snow and debris from sidewalks driveways or parking areas using snowplows snow blowers or snow shovels or spread snow melting chemicals (when required).

Job Requirements:

• Experience in performing various cleaning housekeeping and maintenance activities in an institutionalized environment.
• Experience in using floor maintenance machines cleaning equipment materials and solutions.
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the provisions that apply to this work including WHMIS.
• Ability to lift push and pull heavy items as well as climb ladders.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with staff clients and the general public.
• Ability and willingness to work weekends holidays and shifts as assigned as well as work in multiple locations.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions prepare and maintain manual and electronic records.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

• Must meet security clearance requirements where applicable.
• Must have a valid Class G license (may be required).

This is a regular part-time position with a salary range of $17.60 - $20.88 per hour. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidates competencies including but not limited to experience education and performance related to this role.
