Being a psychologist in a school environment means supporting the psychological and mental health of students to promote their well-being, good adaptation, and academic success.
On a daily basis, you intervene in prevention, screening, assessment, and support for students presenting or likely to present adaptation or learning difficulties. You assess their psychological and mental functioning, develop intervention plans, and work in collaboration with the school team and parents to support their academic journey and personal and social development.
Responsibilities
Participate in the development and implementation of the psychology service while respecting educational and administrative frameworks, both at the level of the institutions and the school service center;
Contribute to the screening and recognition of students experiencing difficulties, with a focus on prevention and intervention;
Participate with the multidisciplinary team in the development and revision of the student's intervention plan, integrating, if applicable, their action plan;
Assist teachers in clarifying the nature of the issue, advising and supporting them in their educational approach;
Intervene with students, groups of students, or parents.
Requirements
Be a member of the Ordre des psychologues du Québec (OPQ)
Have strong analytical, observational, and synthesis skills;
Possess listening, communication, and dialogue skills;
Promote collaboration with various stakeholders at all levels of the organization;
Exhibit human, relational, and psychological qualities;
Proof of success in the French SEL test or CÉFRANC or TECFÉE or the enhanced French exam of the CSSMB within three months of hiring at the latest.
