What You’ll Be Doing

Working under supervisory direction and alongside our engineering team, you will drive centrifuge repair, overhaul, and restoration projects from start to finish:

• Tear-Down & Diagnosis: Disassemble complex rotating machinery, gearboxes, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and mechanical clutches to component parts. Inspect and diagnose root causes of mechanical failure.
• Precision Rebuilds: Use micrometers, dial indicators, and precision measuring devices to establish exact bearing fits, seal alignments, and zero-tolerance specs based on engineering blueprints.
• System Assembly: Install, align, clean, and fit precision components, gear sets, pulleys, and drive systems using hand tools, torque wrenches, levels, and specialized shop equipment.
• Rigging & Heavy Material Handling: Move, position, and transport heavy machinery and assemblies safely using overhead cranes, hoists, winches, and forklifts.
• Custom Fabrication & Fitment: Perform minor welding (Arc, Acetylene, Tig/Mig), burning, drilling, and machining to adapt or modify components as needed during restoration.

What You Bring to the Shop

• Licensed 433A Industrial Mechanic / Millwright Ticket (Red Seal or Ontario Journeyperson certification Preferred ).
• 5+ Years of Hands-On Experience: Proven track record in a machine shop, heavy equipment repair, or precision mechanical rebuilding environment.
• The "Tinker Mindset": An innate curiosity and deep mechanical intuition for how systems function, interact, and wear down.
• Precision-Obsessed: Comfortable reading engineering blueprints, layout plans, and complex technical manuals while operating precision measuring tools.
• Tool Ownership: You bring your own core hand tools and mechanical setup (specialized shop equipment and cranes provided).
• Versatile Trade Skills: Experience with basic shop math/physics, rig/crane operation, and basic welding/cutting equipment.
• Asset: Prior experience working with high-speed centrifuges, heavy rotating equipment, or dynamic balancing is a strong plus!
