Position Overview
Are you a hands-on problem-solver who takes pride in fixing things and making spaces work better? The City of Kamloops is looking for a  permanent, full-time Facility Maintenance Technician to help keep our municipal buildings safe, functional, and looking their best. From drywall repairs and door adjustments to outdoor clean-ups and minor plumbing fixes, your work will make a visible difference every day.

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:

1. Completion of senior secondary school or its equivalent.
2. Minimum two (2) years previous facility maintenance experience including plumbing, HVAC and carpentry related work.  
3. Ability to obtain Residential Building Maintenance Worker Certification within two years.
4. Ability to obtain and maintain RCMP Reliability Security Clearance. If you are unable to obtain or maintain an RCMP Reliability Security Clearance, your employment with the City will be terminated. (To be considered for an RCMP Reliability Security Clearance, applicants must be a Canadian citizen or have Permanent Resident Status in Canada. Note: individuals with Permanent Resident Status must have resided (physically present) in Canada for the last five (5) consecutive years).
5. Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.

Before applying, please ensure you review the attached Residential Building Maintenance Worker Employer Declaration of Work Experience form. Candidates will be asked to provide examples of their work experience in each Job Task category (Section D) and must have their current or former employer sign off on their relevant work experience. Candidates must have a minimum of 3,000 hours preforming the tasks in Section D to obtain the job. 

This is a unionized position with CUPE Local 900; check out our for full details (ratified 2026 Collective Agreement coming soon). As this is a unionized position, all qualifications must be met in order to be shortlisted for the position.

For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. A comprehensive benefits package is included with this position.
