The role

Okta enables universal, secure access to technology for every user and organization. Okta Customer Identity (OCI) is the identity platform behind that promise for the applications our customers build for their own customers: the login, MFA, and account management layer for millions of end users across B2B, B2B2C and B2C products. OCI sits alongside Okta Workforce Identity (OWI) as one of the two halves of the Okta platform.

We're hiring a Senior Product Manager to grow OCI's footprint inside our existing enterprise base and to incubate the next generation of platform capabilities. This is a builder's role. You'll spend a good chunk of your time in true zero-to-one territory: sizing a raw opportunity, proving it out with a design partner or two, and turning it into a capability that ships and gets adopted. You'll spend the rest of it as the connective tissue across engineering, design, research, and go-to-market, making sure those bets land in the field.

What you will own

• New Capability Incubation: Own the pipeline of zero-to-one bets on the Okta’s Consumer Identitty platform, from a rough problem statement through a validated design and a shipped v1. You'll decide what's worth building before anyone asks engineering to build it.
• Platform Growth: Drive the product side of Consumer Identitty platform expansion into our existing enterprise base. You'll turn a hypothesis about why they haven't adopted the Consumer Identitty platform into product changes that remove the reason.
• Cross-functional Delivery: Be the person engineering, design, research, and go-to-market call when a new Consumer Identitty platform capability needs a decision. You'll write the specs, run the reviews, and keep a dozen loosely connected workstreams moving toward the same launch.

A day in the life

Your day splits between zero-to-one thinking and shipping discipline. You might start the morning studying churn or expansion data for a segment we don't serve well yet, trying to figure out whether the gap is a feature gap or a positioning gap. An hour later you're on a call with a design partner customer, walking through a rough prototype and taking notes on what confused them.

By midday you're in execution mode: reviewing a spec with your engineering lead, debating whether a capability needs its own data model or can extend an existing one, and pushing back on scope that's grown past what the opportunity actually justifies. You write plainly. Your specs read like an explanation to a smart colleague, not a wish list.

In the afternoon you sync with go-to-market and your PMM partner on how a capability in progress should be positioned once it ships, and you flag anything that changes the pitch. You close the day presenting to a customer or prospect, walking them through what's shipped and what's coming on the roadmap. 

Responsibilities

• Identify, size, and validate new zero-to-one opportunities on the Consumer Identitty platform, using customer conversations, usage data, and market signals rather than internal opinion alone.
• Define and execute a roadmap that balances new capability bets against platform reliability, security hardening, and performance
• Write clear, detailed specs and requirements that give engineering and design unambiguous direction, especially in areas with no existing playbook.
• Partner with sales, customer success, and product marketing to turn a shipped capability into an adopted one, including understanding why customers who should adopt haven't.
• Track the CIAM market and competitive moves from Auth0, Microsoft, and Ping, and use that context to sharpen where the Consumer Identitty platform should and shouldn't compete.
• Be the go-to expert for your area of the Consumer Identitty platform roadmap in front of customers, executives, and cross-functional partners.

Required

• 8+ years of product management experience in enterprise SaaS, platform products, or identity and access management, with at least one zero-to-one launch you can speak to end to end.
• A track record of building and executing a strategy that spans multiple teams, and delivering on it, not just presenting it.
• Strong written and verbal communication. You can write a spec an engineer can build from and a one-pager an executive can act on, without changing the substance between the two.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills. You can build a credible plan from incomplete or conflicting inputs, and explain the assumptions behind it.
• BS in Computer Science, Business, or an equivalent background, with the ability to hold your own in a design review with engineering and architecture.

Preferred

• Experience with Customer Identity and Access Management 
• Experience partnering with sales or customer success on an attach or expansion motion, not just a net-new sales motion.
• Public speaking experience, ideally in front of customers or at industry events.
• MBA or equivalent graduate business degree.

• Zero-to-one conviction: You've taken a fuzzy opportunity from "should we even do this?" to a shipped, adopted capability, without a playbook telling you how. You know the difference between not validated yet and not going to work, and you don't confuse the two.
• Decisive action in the dark : You rarely have perfect data or complete requirements. You confidently make high-stakes calls using a mix of telemetry, customer anecdotes, and sharp product intuition. You explicitly name your assumptions, move fast, and revise them in public without ego when new information arrives.
• Unquestioned influence : You lead without relying on a reporting structure. You naturally align engineering, design, GTM, and the field behind your understanding of the customer. You are the definitive, credible voice of the product in CISO boardrooms and internal executive reviews.

Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. Your actual salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, RRSP with a match, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in Canada is between:

$146,000—$200,000 CAD
