The Supervisor, Inventory Operations supervises designated staff and coordinates the operation of the warehouse, inventory control, receiving, shipping, distribution, and mail services, problem solves issues related to inventory, oversees the processing of medical equipment and supplies, asset and inventory management, provides customer service, ensures compliance of safe handling of dangerous goods by providing safety and security procedures, generates statistical and quality assurance reports. Responsibilities include the development, implementation and maintenance of inventory control systems and generating data relating to inventory usage and levels.
What You’ll Do
- Supervise designated staff by performing duties such as scheduling shifts including coverage for vacation, statutory holidays and overtime, timekeeping for payroll purposes, monitoring staff attendance and performance, evaluating staff performance and determining and implementing staff training and orientation requirements. Supervise and coordinate staff in annual and perpetual stocktaking and other inventory audits.
- Problem-solve a variety of inventory, invoicing and other warehouse/distribution issues such as inventory level changes, special delivery arrangements, damaged goods, short shipments and issues with systems and services through communication with users and other departments such as Finance, Purchasing, and Business Applications.
- Ensure efficiencies are utilized to maximize availability of medical equipment to the organization for proper deployment, maintenance, and stocking on behalf of the Logistics Department. Develop and implement standards and checklists, monitor compliance with standards and takes corrective action where necessary.
- Monitor inventory and expenditure of supplies including data input of inventory on hand/stock re-orders into computerized system(s). Ensure that quantities are replenished, stocked and accounted for following policies and procedures.
- Maintain a variety of work and service activity records and generates related statistics and quality assurance reports pertaining to activities such as equipment preventative maintenance, material safety, vendor and carrier performance, transportation of dangerous goods, postage charges, laundry charges and shipping and receiving. Carry out audits/reviews of completed equipment checks and sanitizing/decontamination activities. Monitors adherence to performance standards and WHMIS regulations.
- Using established processes, responds to and investigates various requests/inquiries/complaints, including analyzing data and conducting interviews. May be required to report findings and make recommendations such as implementing equipment and process changes within his/her area of responsibility.
- Provide customer service such as greeting and directing visitors, answering the telephone, resolving customer inquiries, picking orders from stations for pickup orders, and providing order status and logistics service information.
- Provide logistics and asset management software systems administration including quality assurance and coordinating software and/or hardware maintenance of the asset management system and monitor for potential problems, establish history library, and develop/implement contingency plans. Develop and implements checklists and tracking systems to coordinate regular preventative equipment and inspection.
- Recommend, plans and organize the efficient use of space and equipment in respective work areas.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What you bring
- Grade 12 and three year's recent, related experience including one year in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the historic and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples in social and health contexts, including supported by significant knowledge of Indigenous-specific mandates, including clear understanding of and commitment to eradicate Indigenous-specific racism and discrimination and embed Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the historic and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism and systemic racism on Indigenous Peoples within social and health contexts. This includes understanding how these factors contribute to current health disparities and barriers to care. Show a clear commitment to identifying, challenging, and eradicating Indigenous-specific racism and all forms of discrimination impacting equity-deserving groups within health care settings. This involves familiarity and understanding Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility recognizing personal biases, institutional barriers, engaging in anti-racism education and training and advocating for systemic change.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments within Maintenance, BCEHS contexts found in the foundational documents including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study - BC Human Rights Code, BC Anti-racism Act and how they intersect across the health care system.

Job Type: Casual (Casual is defined as on call with no guaranteed hours. Shifts can be called out via short call (1-5 hours of notice) or pre-booked).
Wage: $33.35/ hour + 13% in lieu of stat pay and vacation
