We are hiring a Senior Full Stack Developer to join the Digital Design and Delivery Division (“3D”) of the Government of Alberta , working on service innovation, program review, and digital transformation projects that improve digital services for Albertans. This role is primarily remote , with occasional on-site meetings or work sessions in Edmonton as required. The initial term is 1 year (August 1, 2026 – July 31, 2027; 251 business days), with a maximum extension of 24 months .

Project Overview

The Digital Design And Delivery Division (“3D”) Is The Government Of Alberta’s Centre For Digital Delivery, Established To

• Maximize capability and confidence in modern digital practice
• Ensure service quality and value through standards and controls
• Use human-centred design, Agile methodology, and modern data practices
• Partner with Government ministries to deliver programs that better serve Albertans

Required

The province is expanding the Goad’s (likely “Government of Alberta’s”) digital delivery of services to simplify and improve user experiences. Up to 50 Full Stack Developers are required to work with 3D on:

• Service innovation
• Program review
• Digital transformation projects

Full Stack Developers Will Work As Part Of Cross-functional Program Review Or Product Delivery Teams, Collaborating With Government Product Owners And 3D On Activities Including

• Field research
• Backlog definition and refinement
• Sprint planning and execution

Role Purpose

The Full Stack Developer(s) Will

• Participate in and contribute to a team’s shared understanding of:
• The related software ecosystem
• Project team working agreements
• Current service implementation
• Work to develop functionality in the provision of services to the public by the Government of Alberta.

Scope of Services

• Anticipated duration: 1 year, with possible extension up to 24 months on the same terms.
• Full-time basis: 7.25-hour work day.
• Developer will work across 2 to 3 projects.
• Time, location, and frequency of work will vary depending on project needs.
• Expected maximum: 1,960 hours per year, unless otherwise agreed.
• Services and deliverables will evolve as work progresses, in response to emerging user and business needs, and design/technical opportunities.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

Research & Discovery

• Participate and contribute to project research and discovery:
• Contribute to field research and user interviews
• Lead technical discovery and deliver related artifacts such as:
• Diagrams
• Documentation

Solution Design & Development

• Provide solution design and development services related to:
• Detailed solution designs based on shared understanding from discovery
• Completion of features for exemplar projects that:
• Meet product owner needs
• Improve the experience of Albertans
• Functional and non-functional defect discovery and resolution
• Enhancements to:
• Solution code quality
• Tooling
• Documentation (for improved maintainability)

Collaboration & Delivery

• Collaborate with frontend designers to deliver solutions aligned to a consistent look and feel.
• Advise and inform product owners on:
• Technical efforts
• Implementation options
• To facilitate frequent delivery
• Support solution deployment and launch for:
• Limited availability
• General availability

Platform & Reusability

• Contribute to a platform of user-centric services through:
• Focus on reuse in solution design and implementation
• Direct contribution to reusable common components and capabilities

Ongoing Development & Support

• Sustain ongoing development through:
• Onboarding of technical team members
• Maintaining technical documentation
• Adopting and improving team development and quality practices and processes

Changes to Services and Materials will be determined jointly by the Province and the Contractor through defined artifacts.

Work Location & Attendance

• The Full Stack Developer will primarily work remotely.
• May be required to attend meetings or work sessions in Edmonton on reasonable notice from the province.
• The province will advise the expected duration of such meetings/sessions when notice is provided.
• Travel time and associated expenses to/from Edmonton are at no cost to the province.
