Project Coordinator - General Contractor / Light & Heavy Industrial

PROJECT COORDINATOR – INDUSTRIAL CONSTRUCTION

Location: Hybrid – site and Surrey-based office)

NextStep Recruitment is working with a growing general contractor to hire for this role.

They deliver industrial projects across the Lower Mainland, including steel buildings, tilt-up, and facilities tied to manufacturing and logistics operations. The work is active, detail-driven, and requires consistent coordination between office and site.

The Role
You’ll work closely with the Project Manager and site team to keep projects organized and moving. This includes managing documentation, tracking key items, and making sure information is current and accessible to the people who need it. You’re part of the core flow of the project, not just supporting from the side.

What this typically involves
Tracking RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and change orders
Coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date project documentation
Supporting procurement tracking and scheduling updates
Ensuring site teams have the correct drawings and information

What they’re looking for
1–4 years of experience with a General Contractor / Prime Contractor
Exposure to commercial or industrial construction projects (steel or concrete preferred)
Working understanding of drawings and construction workflows
Strong organization and consistent follow-through

Where this tends to be a strong fit
You’re comfortable managing multiple streams of information at once
You follow up consistently and keep things from slipping
You’re comfortable working between site and office
You’re looking to build deeper experience in how projects are delivered

Where it tends not to fit as well
Experience is primarily administrative outside of construction
Limited exposure to active job sites or live projects
Preference for highly structured environments with step-by-step direction
