What Is the Opportunity
Director of CIAM Platform Management & Next-Generation Identity Architecture responsible for designing, implementing, and evolving RBC's comprehensive CIAM platform ecosystem to support a future-state vision of real-time access intelligence, identity risk scoring, dynamic access decisioning, and ultimately Zero Standing Access governance.
Responsibilities
- CIAM Platform Ownership : End-to-end management of the CIAM platform portfolio, including core authentication/authorization (Auth0), network access control (F5), identity governance, risk scoring, and access intelligence capabilities.
- Next-Generation Architecture : Define and implement the technical roadmap for evolving identity governance to support Zero Standing Access, real-time risk scoring, and adaptive access decisions across human & non-human identities.
- Vendor & Technology Ecosystem : Strategic vendor management of Auth0, F5, and complementary identity intelligence platforms (Veza, Radiant Logic, Silverfort, CyberArk) to ensure cohesive platform integration and capability advancement.
- Cross-Functional Leadership : Build and lead teams, establish governance models that align CIAM capabilities with enterprise architecture, regulatory compliance, and Lines of Business requirements.
- LoB Collaboration & Requirements : Work directly with LoB stakeholders to understand migration requirements, data integration needs, and automation opportunities for CIAM platform onboarding; translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Develop and maintain automated migration tools, risk assessment automations, and governance workflows in collaboration with internal AI teams; provide technical oversight to ensure maintainability, scalability, and adherence to enterprise architectural standards.
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops, validate automation designs, and communicate progress to technical and business audiences.
- Identify bottlenecks in current CIAM onboarding processes, recommend automation solutions, track velocity improvements, and continuously refine approaches.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, set performance objectives, conduct quarterly reviews, and establish a culture of high employee engagement.
- Lead information security awareness, communication, and training programs aligned with CIAM strategy; monitor global CIAM trends and regulations.
- Promote CIAM best practices, strategy, and vision across the organization through events and roadshows.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM/CIAM) platform architecture and design.
- Demonstrated leadership in designing and implementing enterprise-wide CIAM platforms or authentication/authorization platforms (e.g., Auth0, Okta, Ping).
- Experience with network access control platforms (F5, Palo Alto, Cisco).
- Proven ability to define product roadmaps and prioritize across competing stakeholder needs.
- Experience managing vendor relationships for identity technologies ensuring platform integration.
- Expert-level knowledge of authentication, authorization, identity governance, and access control architectures.
- Deep familiarity with Auth0, F5, and complementary identity intelligence/governance platforms.
- Strong understanding of Zero Trust principles, real-time risk scoring, dynamic access decisions, and Zero Standing Access models.
- Knowledge of securing machine identities, API authentication, AI services, and autonomous workloads.
- Ability to translate business strategy into platform roadmaps; understanding of financial services business models and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and retain high-performing teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or equivalent.
Nice‑to‑have
- Hands‑on experience with Auth0, F5, Veza, Radiant Logic, Silverfort, or CyberArk technologies.
- Experience implementing Zero Trust or Zero Standing Access initiatives.
- Knowledge of identity fabric or identity data aggregation platforms.
- Exposure to AI/ML applications in identity and access governance.
- Experience governing non-human identities (machine identities, API security, service accounts).
- Background in financial services or regulated industries.
- Experience with verifiable credentials or emerging identity standards.
- Familiarity with RPA or automation in identity governance contexts.
- CISSP, CCSK, or equivalent security certification.
