About the Relationship Manager position

CHN is currently seeking a part-time Relationship Manager located in Montreal, QB. As a Relationship Manager you have strong relationship-building skills and can problem-solve issues as they arise. A day might see you welcoming new students to their new community, talking to the student’s school or host family about academic or social issues, and discussing Homestay responsibilities with one of our Canadian hosts. As an integral member of our Operations Team, you’ll be using your strong communication and judgment skills daily, to help build and grow our Homestay network.

It is a hybrid role, work from home office and in-person at school or partner’s office, and potential travel to neighbouring communities with an hourly wage between $21.00-$23.00.

This is a permanent, part-time (20 hrs per week) vacant position in Montreal, QB, with in-person work in the Montreal region outside of the city limits. The ideal candidate will be located specifically in Côte-des-Neiges, Westmount, or somewhere close to the central-west area of Montreal.

As this is a part-time role, flexibility in availability will be needed. There may be some evenings and weekends for events or emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage relationships between internal and external stakeholders
  • Support homestay hosts, natural parents, and students in interpreting cultural practices and differences
  • Plan and deliver in-person training to hosts as well as in-person orientations for hosts and new students
  • Communicate and maintain accurate records
  • Build a supportive local community of host families
  • Support student and host family relationships throughout their program in a variety of ways
  • Respond to crisis situations in a prompt and caring manner and refer cases to health professionals where appropriate
  • In person work with intake and School Meetings
  • Assume custodianship for the local region/community students under the age of 18 as required (up to 100 km)
  • Travel amongst the local community and surrounding areas

The successful candidate will have

  • At least two years of homestay or related work experience
  • Strong verbal and written English communication. French is also mandatory for positions assigned to Quebec and parts of Ontario.
  • One-year Community College Certificate or Diploma
  • International experience including hosting students or travelling abroad (preferred)
  • Ability to plan events and comfortability with public speaking
  • Great judgement and decision-making skills while exercising a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with a potential of high-stress situations
  • Exceptional Customer Service skills and experience
  • Excellent Word, Excel, Email, and Database skills
  • Superior organizational skills and ability to hold yourself accountable while working independently
  • Strong ability to develop and maintain relationships with both colleagues and clients

This role requires the successful candidate to be at least 25 years of age and a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. They will also need to have a full and valid drivers license with a reliable vehicle that has at least 2 million auto insurance liability coverage and be able to pass a Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Our recruitment process relies on human review. We do not use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to screen, select, or assess candidates.
