LBM Supervisor

Job Responsibility:

The LBM (Lumber and Building Materials) Supervisor contributes to the Annapolis Home Hardware Building Centre's success and is responsible for helping in the day-to-day operations during scheduled shifts. This includes overseeing the activities of personnel, building relationships with customers, help to meet store sale targets, have a diverse knowledge of the inventory mix, promotional planning and execution, merchandising, pricing, and facilitating communications between management and employees. This role must have a strong background in building supply products, a passion for the building supply industry, and excellent leadership skills. The LBM Supervisor performs all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to support store efficiency and a high level of customer service.

Responsibilities/Specific Accountabilities:

-Understand sales and productivity goals for store operations and ensure they are met.

-Assist the Store Manager/Assistant Manager in all aspects of LBM store operations, including supervising staff, inventory control, visual merchandising, and customer service.

-Supervise and train staff, ensuring consistent adherence to company policies and procedures.

-Communicate effectively with customers, employees, wholesaler/manufacturer representatives, delivery personnel and management.

-Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of products and manage inventory levels.

-Maintain a high level of product knowledge and stay up to date on industry trends

-Assist customers with product selection and provide guidance on proper usage and installation.

-Be proficient with POS (point of sale) and operational software systems and procedures to related purchases.

-Collaborate with store management to develop LBM strategies, promotions and pricing policies.

-Facilitate prompt settlement of any employee or customer complaints and problems.

-Conduct team meetings to discuss problems, review objectives, as well as recognize and celebrate accomplishments.

-Train and coach the team on effective selling techniques, product features and know current promotions.

-Assist in the interviewing process with the aid of the Store Manager/Assistant Store Manager and/or HR.

-Supervise compliance with Health and Safety Program.

-Provide an environment that encourages high employee productivity and morale.

-Work on additional duties and assignments as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

- In-depth knowledge of building materials, construction techniques, and industry standards

- Certification or technical training in construction, building materials, or related fields is an asset

- Proven experience in retail sales, preferably in a hardware or home improvement setting.

- Strong interpersonal, organizational, customer service and time management skills

- Strong technical and problem-solving skills

- Willingness to learn and develop professional skills

- Knowledge of inventory management principles and practices

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software

-Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently to load and unload customer orders.

-Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store.

-Ability to stand for an extended period of time.

-Ability to work flexible schedule including Saturdays.

Pay: $19.00-$24.00 per hour
