Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton
Status: Contract Full‑time Position (24‑month Term)
Hiring Range: $94,455 - $106,262 per annum plus comprehensive benefits
Hours of work: 35 hours/week
Overview Reporting to the Manager, Asset Management, you will build maps, develop GIS applications, and focus on GIS‑related work activities to provide expert guidance for the Regional Water and Wastewater Program Master Plans, State of Good Repair (SOGR) Plans, technical servicing analyses, flow monitoring contract administration, and long‑term strategic infrastructure planning. You will support Project Managers in Environmental Assessments and unique studies within the water and wastewater program planning group.
Responsibilities Develop GIS datasets, maps, GIS applications, visual representations of data (including advanced charts and dashboards), and formulate information into presentations, technical reports, council reports, and executive summaries for various audiences.
Create and administer infrastructure information systems and programs related to water, wastewater, groundwater, graphical datasets, watershed information, climate impacts, capital planning, cost estimation for development and capital budgets.
Act as a technical advisor and specialized research representative on specific projects for Project Managers and Program/Asset Management leadership, drafting policy, procedures, and guidelines related to program planning goals.
Provide expert guidance on urban development‑related plans, infrastructure feasibility studies, and identify trends, anomalies, and critical high‑risk components of infrastructure systems.
Collect, evaluate, and analyze technical data related to flow monitoring, sewer capacities, storm capacities, and provide recommendations to SOGR, Operations, and Capital functions.
Research, collect, evaluate, and manipulate data to support recommendations for complex infrastructure and service problems, identifying opportunities for improvement.
Administer special programs involving civil engineering initiatives in collaboration with external service providers and agencies (e.g., Conservation Authorities, engineering firms).
Qualifications High‑level understanding and hands‑on experience with GIS/CAD software, capable of manipulating and producing GIS, mapping, and Google Earth data sets.
Degree or college diploma in Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Civil/Water Resource Engineering, or a Certified Civil Engineering Technologist diploma, combined with 3–5 years of relevant experience.
Experience managing and analyzing dashboards with detailed reporting skills.
Understanding of water and wastewater industry infrastructure engineering principles and systems.
Ability to work on multiple project teams, providing input and technical guidance on operational, design, and program initiatives.
Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to translate technical information into accessible language for diverse audiences.
Skills & Abilities Experience with ESRI’s ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online applications (Survey123, Dashboards, Insights, Workforce, StoryMaps, etc.).
Familiarity with SQL and/or Python is an asset.
Knowledge of hydraulic modeling, watershed and drainage principles, infrastructure servicing principles, and materials specifications.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Strong organizational skills, ability to multi‑task in a rapid‑paced environment, excellent communication skills, and teamwork orientation.
Work Mode & Job Location Hybrid arrangement: work off‑site and on‑site as operational needs dictate. Off‑site work must be within Ontario. The 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton site will be the primary on‑site location.
