Welder Fabricator (Heavy Equipment & Truck Repair) (On-site in the West Kootenays, BC)

The Welder Fabricator is responsible for performing steel and aluminum welding repairs, structural welding, and custom fabrication on trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment. Working in a safety-focused shop environment, this role repairs damaged components, fabricates custom solutions, interprets technical drawings, and supports equipment modifications to meet operational and customer requirements. Success in this position requires strong welding and fabrication skills, experience working with a variety of materials, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship that supports the reliability, safety, and performance of heavy-duty equipment.

Compensation & Schedule  

$30.00- $39.00 per hour 

Compensation will be  commensurate with experience, qualifications, and overall alignment with the requirements of the role. 

Schedule: Consistent 4-on, 4-off schedule with 11-hour day shifts and no night shifts 

Allowances: Boot, and prescription safety glasses allowances to support the purchase and maintenance of personal protective gear. 

Responsibilities  

• General welding repairs on trailers, trucks, and custom equipment 

• Perform custom fabrication of truck, trailer, and heavy equipment components to meet customer specifications 

• Perform welding repair inspections and time estimates on road equipment 

• Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine requirements 

• Complete Structural Welding 

• Customize mobile equipment and/or parts as per the customer's request 

• Provide welding support primarily in the shop and occasionally in the field 

• Complete all required paperwork in a timely manner 

• Develop a welding repair process with the Service Manager 

• Work in a safe manner and follow all safety rules and guidelines 

Qualifications  

• Journeyman Red Seal Welder certification 

• 1-2 years of experience in commercial truck and trailer welding repairs 

• Team player who can share his/her knowledge by teaching and coaching junior employees 

• Ability to work safely in a challenging environment with minimal supervision 

• Demonstrated analysis and problem-solving ability 

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding duties 

• Must be computer literate and have the ability to learn new programs 

• Demonstrate and promote work-safe practices
