About Island Gold District:   Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Reporting to the Chief Accountant, the Payroll Technician is responsible to prepare the salaried Ontario payroll for Island Gold Division.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review salaried employees’ timesheets and support supervisors in completing them


• Prepare payroll corrections, adjustments and bonus payments


• Review changes made to employees’ payroll profile, including group benefit deductions


• Issue and amend records of employment


• Act like a resource person for all salaried payroll-related matters


• Assist the Paymaster on any payroll-related matters


• Create and prepare payroll-related reports


• Replace Payroll Clerk during vacation and absences


• Any other related duties

Qualifications:

• College (Cégep) degree in accounting


• 5 years of experience in payroll


• Highly proficient in computer skills and technology


• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel


• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in French and English


• Strong clerical, administrative and general office skills including attention to detail and rigor


• Excellent time management and organisational skills including ability to prioritise and multitask effectively


• Knowledge of UKG Pro is an asset

Working Conditions:

• This position requires to sit in front of a computer for long hours at a time. Additional hours of work and working on Statutory Holidays may be needed from time to time in order to meet deadlines.


• The schedule for this position is 4/3


• Pay or shift range:  $62,250 CAD   to  $101,950 CAD
