Joining FNHA as an Employed Student Nurse will provide the opportunity to enhance education by gaining additional experience in a primary care clinical environment.

Title: Employed Student Nurse – Primary Care (ESN-PC)

Salary: $31.31/hr. (pay range explained below)

Contract: Temporary – term ending August 31, 2026

Hours: 8:30 – 4:30 Monday – Friday

Location: All Nations Healing House, Williams Lake, B.C. – On-site

About The Role

The Employed Student Nurse – Primary Care (ESN/PC) collaborates with staff and partners to ensure services are grounded in anti-racism, cultural safety, and trauma-informed practice while supporting community health through a Two-Eyed Seeing approach. Under supervision, they provide direct nursing care within their level of training and engage respectfully with community members as equal partners, demonstrating cultural humility. The ESN/PC follows the standards, limits, conditions, and ethical guidelines set by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

About You

Education

• Successful completion of 2nd Year RPN or BScN program or equivalent* and continued enrollment in a recognized nursing education program.
• Current registration with BCCNM as an Employed Student Registrant.
• Successful completion of community health practice education experience
• Current CPR-C certification (includes infant resuscitation)
• Immunization certification, or willingness to complete within three months of hire. Immunizations are a restricted activity and the nurse providing them must possess the competencies established by the BCCDC and follow decision support tools established by BCCDC.
• Current valid BC driver’s license

Scope

An ESN Or ESPN Does Not Have Authority To Autonomously Perform Any Restricted Activities (either Those That Do Or Do Not Require An Order). They May Only Perform Restricted Activities When

• They are authorized by a practicing NP, RN, or RPN who has accepted the responsibility for regulatory supervision of that employed student registrant activity in accordance with the practice standard Regulatory Supervision of Students
• They have gained competence for that activity in an entry-level nursing or psychiatric nursing education program recognized by BCCNM (this competence is usually achieved by learning the theory, practicing in the lab, and being observed performing the activity to the satisfaction of the education program faculty).
• They comply with any limitations set by their employer.

Experience

• Experience working with First Nations clients, families and/or communities is an asset

Knowledge

• Demonstrated commitment to practice reflection through self-reflexivity and solicitation of feedback, grounded in cultural safety and humility
• Alignment with the ethical obligation of nursing to recognize the primacy of First Nations sovereignty – which includes the recognition that First Nations people control land, water, health and wellness
• Seeks guidance from First Nations leadership, Elders and Knowledge Keepers in order to validate and integrate First Nations knowledge into all aspects of health and well-being
• Knowledge and understanding of the First Nations principles of data ownership, control, access, and possession (OCAP)
• Commitment to ensuring all care is provided with a trauma informed approach

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.

Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.

The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
