Senior Accountant

Your new company  

As a Senior Accountant, you will report directly to the Director of Finance and play a key role in overseeing the organization’s financial reporting, analysis, and accounting operations. This is a hands-on role suited for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys ownership, operates with a high degree of independence, and collaborates closely with operational and leadership teams in a growing, project-driven environment. 

Your new role  

Core Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Lead full-cycle accounting including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation

• Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results to senior leadership

• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger across multiple business units

• Oversee intercompany transactions, eliminations, and reconciliations

• Manage fixed assets, amortization schedules, and capital project accounting

• Prepare internal financial dashboards and KPI reporting to support operational decision-making

• Support the preparation of consolidated financial statements for internal and external stakeholders

Financial Planning, Analysis & Budgeting

• Assist with the development of annual budgets and multi-year financial forecasts

• Perform variance, trend, and margin analysis with actionable insights and recommendations

• Support cash flow forecasting and working capital management

• Partner closely with operations teams to support project tracking, cost allocations, and performance monitoring

• Review and analyze project profitability, forecast accuracy, and cost overruns

• Translate financial results into clear insights for non-financial stakeholders

Regulatory Compliance, Audit & Internal Controls

• Ensure accurate and timely government remittances including HST, payroll taxes, WSIB, EHT, and other statutory filings

• Assist with year-end audit preparation, including working papers and auditor support

• Maintain and update accounting policies, procedures, and documentation

Systems, Processes & Continuous Improvement

• Act as a subject-matter expert for the accounting and ERP systems

• Mentor and support junior accounting or administrative staff as required

• Provide guidance and training on financial processes to non-finance teams

• Support cross-functional initiatives that improve financial visibility and operational effectiveness

• Adhere to all company policies and procedures

• Perform other duties as assigned related to the role

What you'll need to succeed  

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• CPA designation (or actively working toward completion) strongly preferred

• 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience; multi-entity or small-business experience considered an asset

• Strong expertise in ASPE and full-cycle accounting

• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modelling

• Experience in construction, real estate development, property management, or project-based accounting preferred

• Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment

• Demonstrated mentorship or informal leadership experience is an asset

What you'll get in return  

• Salary: $80,000–$105,000 CAD, based on experience

• Schedule: Fully onsite, Monday to Friday in Woodstock

• Vacation: 3 weeks
