About the Opportunity
The District of Lake Country has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Parks and Facilities Operator II based in Lake Country, BC.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Engineer, the Parks and Facilities Operator II is responsible for
operating, cleaning, and maintaining the municipal arena complex to provide a safe, clean and quality environment for the recreational use and leisure enjoyment of the public. With a specialized certificate, this position mainly works out of the arena however may be utilized in our parks division where required.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Clean and maintain municipal buildings, grounds, and equipment, including minor construction, renovations and improvements, as directed by the Parks & Facilities Manager;
  • Maintain facilities records, collect fees, record information on ice plant operation, building maintenance, and other information as required by the Parks & Facilities Manager;
  • Prepare, clean, and maintain the arena ice surface;
  • Assist with maintenance of other facilities and grounds, as directed by the Parks & Facilities Manager;
  • Operate and maintain the arena, have daily contact with user groups, and ensure that scheduled events begin and end on time;
  • Operate and maintain the ice maintenance and refrigeration equipment;


More About You
To qualify for this role, you must have a Grade 12 education and a minimum of two years’ experience in ice facilities or parks, a Level 1 First Aid Certificate; Refrigeration Operator Certificate or Power
Engineering 5 th Class with refrigeration endorsement as recognized by the Province of British Columbia Safety Authority. Additionally, a valid British Columbia Driver’s License (Class 5) and clear criminal record check is required.

As our ideal candidate, you have general knowledge of the principles of ice/facilities maintenance and operation. Some knowledge of the local community and its citizens and a strong ability to deal with the public including tactfully handling difficult people and strong judgement and problem solving skills. You must be sound technically in the operation and maintenance of ice making and maintaining equipment and have expert skills in performing operational repairs to the facilities and equipment. A strong ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated.

About the Benefits

This position can work up to 40 hours per week including weekends and evenings.
