Position Overview

Reporting to the management team of the Sleep Disorder Centre (Manager and Medical Director currently), the Office Team Leader ensures the effective and efficient operation of the administrative area of the Sleep Disorder Centre (SDC). The incumbent is responsible for quality assurance of office/clerical functions; works with the management team to develop and implement policies and procedures; and provides direction and assistance for all office staff.

Experience

• A minimum of five (5) years' experience in a busy clinic environment is required.
• Two (2) years at a senior/supervisory level is preferred.
• Experience working with an Electronic Medical Record is required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
• Successful completion of a recognized medical secretarial training program required.
• A combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Medical terminology required.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

Qualifications and Skills

• Typing speed of 65 words per minute.
• Demonstrated experience operating in a Windows computer environment, including databases.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing is essential.
• Must be able to demonstrate good judgment, initiative, and diplomacy and have the ability to coordinate workflow and develop efficiencies.
• Excellent planning, organization, project and time management skills are required.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited guidance and supervision.
• Works within the Centre's core values, philosophy, vision, C.Q.I. goals, policies and procedures.
• Able to deal with a wide variety and volume of patients (in person or on the phone) in a very fast-paced and busy work environment.
• Able to cope with stressful situations.
• Assumes responsibility or ongoing education and participates in professional activities for personal and professional growth.

Physical Requirements

• Physical health to meet the requirements of the position.
• Considerable repetitive wrist movement.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
