Site Overview: The West 5th Campus of St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton is a leading 800,000 sq ft, LEED-certified mental health and addiction treatment facility located at 100 West?5th Street, Hamilton.

Position: (Temporary) Full -Time Security Guard

Site: St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton, West 5th Campus

Hours: Continental Nights (1830-0630)

Payrate: $21.42/hr. 

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement

Job Description:

• Working on assigned shifts, you will provide proactive and reactive security patrols and response to incidents.
• Display excellent customer service skills and be able to work with people who are under stress or in need of medical assistance.
• In this role, it is essential that you are physically fit and able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Perform a variety of preventative and reactive duties to include, but not limited to interior and exterior patrols within the hospital as well as exterior of all buildings and areas of the organization.
• Provide Use of Force/Restraint as required and directed under the Mental Health Act
• Provide security escort service to staff and visitors as requested.
• Accountable for keeping accurate logs and notebook entries of all shift activity and calls for service.
• Accountable to write accurate reports upon investigations or reportable occurrences in timely manner upon completion of occurrence.
• Investigate and follow-up of incidents, report writing, door opening requests, CCTV camera reviews.
• Security Guards shall warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary.
• Implement security measures to protect property, control access to sites, patrol assigned areas to monitor activities and ensure client rules and regulations are followed.

Requirements:

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario 
• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella , Covid Vaccine two doses, and two step TB skin test
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Must have one year experience in healthcare security, or law enforcement
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services will be an asset
• Able to provide a clean shaven face in order to pass a N95 mask fit test
• Ability to walk/climb stairs throughout the premises for longer periods of time
• Please note that Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training must be completed following the onboarding process.
• Must provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB).Applicants without these certifications can opt into Paladin's UOF/MOAB training program before onboarding to meet position requirements.

Please note: UOF/MOAB certification is unpaid as a pre-employment requirement; however, Paladin covers all training costs with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability.

Education Requirements (All)

High School Diploma/GED
Education in Law Enforcement or equivalent
