Associate Director of University Counselling

Job Responsibility:

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF UNIVERSITY COUNSELLING

St. Clement's School (“the School”) is looking for an Associate Director of University Counselling (“Associate Director”) to join our School on a full-time basis commencing August 25, 2025 with a New Staff Orientation Day on August 21, 2025. The Associate Director reports to the Director of LINCWell and to the Head of the Senior School and provides academic, university and social-emotional counselling and support to students in Grade 12. The Associate Director also works as a member of the LINCWell team to develop and deliver workshops and learning experiences focusing on academic skill building, university, and career planning, as well as health and wellbeing. LINCWell is a unique School-wide approach that focuses on student support, health, wellbeing, and academic enrichment for Grades 1 to 12. Our ideal candidate possesses experience and knowledge of the university application process in Canada, North America, and internationally. They have strong organizational and relationship building skills, are an effective and accessible communicator, and demonstrate sensitivity and care in working with students, families, and staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Continual development and implementation of a strategic plan for university counselling that aligns with the School's overall strategic goals and mission;
• Work collaboratively with Teachers, Heads of School, and the LINCWell team to support students through their years at SCS and guide and support them as they determine and plan for their path of choice beyond SCS;
• Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with university admissions officers through regular communication, campus visits, and attendance at professional conferences;
• Collect, analyze, and interpret data on student university acceptances, patterns, and trends in higher education to inform program development and strategic planning;
• Prepare annual reports and presentations for the School summarizing the outcomes and effectiveness of the university counseling program;
• Maintain a thorough and current understanding of trends in university admissions, financial aid policies, and the broader landscape of higher education through ongoing professional learning;
• Develop strong, trusting relationships with students and their families;
• Support and guide Grade 12 students throughout the post-secondary admission process;
• Work in collaboration with our internal School departments for special events;
• Full participation and engagement in the life of the School;
• Participate in co-curricular trips and activities, which may fall before and after school hours and on weekends and may include occasional supervision of overnight student trips, both national and international;
• Develop and deliver components of the Careers course focused on post-secondary planning and applications; and
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES OF OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

• University degree in a related field with a Master's degree an asset;
• Certificate of Qualification and Registration with OCT preferred but not required;
• A minimum of three years experience with high school guidance, including university counselling;
• Experience in Canadian, U.S., and international destination university admissions counselling;
• Understand and remain aware of current research on adolescent mental health and strategies for promoting wellbeing with a focus on girls;
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with a strong professional presence; approachable and collaborative working style;
• Managing competing priorities and multiple tasks while maintaining a strong attention to detail and accuracy;
• Resourceful and flexible with strong organization, problem-solving, and time management skills;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to handle confidential material and situations with discretion and sensitivity;
• Ability to work in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment as a supportive team player who is adaptable, able to learn quickly and think on their feet; and
• A clear criminal record check is required as a condition of employment.
