Position: Team Lead - Emergency Department
Site: Mount Sinai Hospital
Hours: Continental Rotation (0700–1900/1900–0700)
Pay Rate: $27.86/hour
Category: Averaging Agreement (Overtime after 88 hours)

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for supervising the activities and job performance of Security Guards assigned to all areas belonging to their facility.
- Provide leadership, supervision, scheduling, coaching, and training to site staff while ensuring compliance with Paladin Security and site-specific policies.
- Oversee daily operations, including standing orders, shift activities, attendance management, security audits, and mandatory training requirements.
- Motivate, commend, and discipline staff as required, ensuring proper documentation and communication with Head Office and the Client Service Manager.
- Deliver proactive and reactive security services, including patrols, incident response, coded emergency response, and report writing within the Mental Health Ward and Emergency Department.
- Monitor, document, investigate, and escalate security incidents, complaints, and safety concerns as needed.
- Maintain a visible security presence, ensure the safety of staff, patients, and visitors, and support patient watch guards.
- Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques and provide professional customer service when working with vulnerable or distressed populations.
- Assist with security planning for high-risk patients and collaborate closely with healthcare teams, local law enforcement, and emergency services.
- Perform duties requiring physical fitness, including standing and walking for extended periods during 12-hour shifts.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Previous 2 year experience in a leadership role within healthcare security
- Previous 2 year experience in healthcare security
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License & First Aid & CPR certification
- Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella , Covid19, & two step TB skin test
- Must be able to be clean-shaven for N95 mask fit testing
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations in a professional manner
- Strong understanding of report writing, investigations, and incident management
- Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services will be an asset
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
