Remote MSU Macademics Research and Resources Coordinator

Reports to: Macademics Coordinator

Hours: Approx 4-6 hours per week (with potential prep work in the summer)

Contract: Sept 1 - April 30

MSU Macademics is a service that advocates to improve the quality of education and celebrate teaching excellence at McMaster. The three branches of their service are:  

1. Accessibility of academic resources.  

1. Recognizing and promoting excellence in education .  

1. Bridging the gap between pedagogical research and implementation at McMaster .

The MSU Macademics Research and Resources Coordinator will be responsible for managing the Macademics resource hub. They will work with the rest of the Macademics executive to organize the presentation of these resources to the student body, mainly in an online format. They will also be in charge of keeping up-to-date on current topics related to pedagogy, teaching and learning, and quality of education. The Research and Resources Coordinator will be in close contact with the McMaster Institute for Innovation and Excellence in Teaching and Learning, faculty societies, the Student Success Centre, and other campus partners in order to collect and disseminate information and resources.  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

• Awareness and understanding of topics associated with Macademics (pedagogy, quality of education, teaching and learning, post-secondary institutions, etc.)  

• Organizational and time management skills  

• Strong written communication skills  

• Formal and/or informal research skills (academia, social media, etc.)  

• The ability to work well with others and as part of a team  

• Knowledge of resources on campus associated with Macademics is an asset  

Effort & Responsibility  

• Effort to keep updated on current topics and research in the field  

• Establish and maintain relationships with various groups as well as other executive members  

• Responsible for maintaining
  accurate online library of resources  

Working Conditions  

• Most work can be completed in a shared office space or from home  

• Time demands may exceed stated hours of work  

Training and Experience  

• Necessary training will be provided  

Equipment  

• Personal computer
