Job Summary

Cabinetmakers fabricate, assemble and install cabinetry and related wood components for residential and commercial projects. They ensure accurate measurement, material selection and high-quality finishing to meet design specifications.

Main Duties

• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications to plan cabinet construction and installation.
• Measure, mark and cut wood, laminates and panel products using hand and power tools.
• Fabricate and assemble cabinet components, frames, drawers and doors using appropriate joinery techniques.
• Install cabinets, countertops and trim on-site, ensuring proper fit, alignment and secure fastening.
• Apply finishes, veneer, edge banding and hardware, perform sanding and touch-up, and ensure aesthetic quality.
• Maintain and inspect tools and equipment, follow safety procedures, and perform quality checks on completed work.

Requirements

• Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a cabinetmaking apprenticeship, vocational program, or equivalent on-the-job training.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in cabinetmaking, woodworking or a related trade.
• Proficiency operating woodworking machinery and hand tools such as saws, routers, sanders and drills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, shop drawings and specifications.
• Physical ability to lift materials, work on elevated surfaces, and perform repetitive manual tasks for extended periods.
