Lecturer, Assistant, Associate or Professor

PERMANENT, FULL‑TIME. The College of Nursing, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, invites applications for a full‑time tenured or probationary (tenure‑track) position at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant, Associate or Professor. Indigenous (First Nation, Métis, and Inuit) ancestry is required. Expertise in Indigenous health and Indigenous pedagogy are preferred. The Indigenous Scholar is an academic leader who advances Indigenous knowledge, scholarship, and community‑engaged research within the university and beyond. The role recognises Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing as foundational to teaching, research, and service and values relational, land‑based, and community‑driven approaches to scholarship.
We are looking for an academic leader who will contribute to teaching, research, and service centering Indigenous knowledge systems, perspectives, and priorities in nursing and health. The Indigenous Scholar will foster inclusive and culturally safe learning environments and advance Indigenous‑led scholarship that supports health and wellness for Indigenous Peoples.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate nursing courses using in‑person, online, and blended modalities. Integrate Indigenous knowledge, pedagogies, and approaches within curricula.
- Mentor and supervise graduate students (thesis, dissertation, and/or capstone projects), with a commitment to supporting Indigenous students and building capacity in Indigenous health research and scholarship.
- Maintain an active program of research that reflects Indigenous priorities, methodologies, and ways of knowing, and that contributes to improved health outcomes for Indigenous Peoples. May include community‑based, participatory, land‑based, and/or distinctions‑based approaches.
- Conduct independent research and collaborate within interdisciplinary and community‑engaged research teams.
- Build and sustain respectful, reciprocal relationships with Indigenous Nations, communities, and organizations. Support institutional commitments to Indigenous sovereignty, self‑determination, and ethical engagement grounded in respect, reciprocity, and responsibility.
- Contribute to service within the College, University, profession, and broader community, including leadership in initiatives that advance Indigenous scholarship, equity, and inclusion.
Qualifications
- PhD in Nursing or a related health discipline or in progress (for Lecturer).
- Eligibility for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
- Demonstrated or emerging program of research relevant to Indigenous health and wellbeing.
- Evidence of scholarly output, including peer‑reviewed publications and/or community‑engaged knowledge dissemination.
- Demonstrated ability or strong potential to obtain competitive research funding.
- Experience building and maintaining respectful relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, and partners.
- Proven or emerging excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and supervision at undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing Indigenous knowledge, anti‑racism, equity, and culturally safe practices in education, research, and service.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in academic and community settings.
For appointment at the Associate or Full Professor rank, applicants must demonstrate:
- A well‑developed and sustained program of research.
- Evidence of research impact in Indigenous health and/or community contexts.
- A strong track record of funding and scholarly contributions.Recognition at the national and/or international level.
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring, service, and community engagement.
