Job Responsibility:

Position Title: Outdoor Education Coordinator Wage Range: Category 5 - Pending qualifications & experience Location: Stz'uminus First Nation, Ladysmith, BC Reporting to: SES Principal Weekly Schedule: Monday - Friday Hours/Day: 8am - 4pm Available for Weekends/Evenings: Must be flexible Employment Type: Full Time, school contract - Aug 19, 2024, to June 27, 2025

Position Summary SES is inviting applications from qualified individuals for a full-time, term Outdoor Education teacher position. Benefits

The Opportunity:

• You develop, deliver, and implement culturally responsive outdoor learning

activities for students in accordance with the BC curriculum and school academic

plans

• You will have opportunities to prioritize land-based learning and integration of Stz'uminus

culture, Hul'q'umi'num' language and Coast Salish ways of knowing

• You collaborate with Educators at all levels to develop, enhance and lead explorations,

projects, units and lessons

• Provide individual and group instruction designed to meet individual student needs

and to motivate student learning

• You continuously develop relationships with your peer educators, students,

partners, elders, community members and families.

• Design and facilitate experiences to inspire children and families to be engaged,

motivated, and eager to learn in a land-based school setting

What You Bring:

• Bachelor of Education

• Experience in teaching/coordinating land based/outdoor programming

• ability to maintain accurate records of students' progress and compliance with

school policies

• confidence in attending parent-teacher conferences, staff meetings and cultural

initiatives

• Ability to use a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate student needs

• Confident with classroom & behavior management

• Collaborative team player who respects and values others that contribute to

the education of all learners

• Dedication to learning and incorporating Coast Salish culture

• Eligible for clearance of a Criminal Records check for working with children

and vulnerable persons

• Experience working in a First Nation school/community is an asset

• Understanding of trauma informed practices

• You are enthusiastic lifelong learner

• Flexible working hours

• Eligible to work in Canada
