Virtual Learning/Tutoring Coordinator
Full-time 37.5 Hours per week
11-month contract *with possibility of extension
The Virtual Learning/Tutoring Coordinator will support the management and enhancement of the virtual learning experience and coordinate tutoring services within the M.A.P. Program (My Action Plan to Education), for youth in grades 4-12, but the primary focus will be on supporting students in grades 9-12. This role involves developing and implementing virtual learning strategies, overseeing tutoring operations, and ensuring the effective delivery of diverse skill improvement support to students.
The main responsibilities for this position are:
- Develop and implement effective virtual learning strategies tailored to the needs of youth in grades 9-12.
- Oversee tutoring operations, ensuring high-quality academic support both online and in-person.
- Provide academic tutoring in math and science, as well as other secondary subjects and support up to three students at different levels simultaneously.
- Identify study trends and weaknesses to tailor content and support students' skill development.
- Prepare and execute planned activities, post-lesson notes, and maintain daily student communication updates.
- Build rapport with students, parents, guardians, and community members, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Attend evening training and meetings as required.
- Ensure adherence to program health and safety protocols.
- Commit to ongoing professional development and stay current with teaching approaches and curriculum updates.
The successful candidate(s) for this position will possess the following qualifications:
- University degree or college diploma in Education, Social Work, Child & Youth, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum and current teaching approaches.
- Experience providing academic support and tutoring for youth in grades 9-12, both online and in-person.
- Demonstrated passion for working with students, enhancing their self-confidence and academic growth.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, guardians, and community members.
- Experience with post-lesson notes, daily student communication updates, and maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Current First Aid & CPR certification required.
- Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance issued by a local police station.
- Tentative Start date: August 19, 2024
