- Completed a Master’s degree in Inclusive Education
- Currently enrolled in and working towards a Master’s program in Inclusive Education
- Completed a diploma or certificate in Inclusive Education
- Currently enrolled in and working towards a diploma or certificate in Inclusive Education
- Willing to enroll in and begin a Master’s degree in Inclusive Education upon acceptance of the position

Canalta Elementary School
Canalta Elementary School is a K-7 school located on the western edge of the City of Dawson Creek with a beautiful view of Newby Park and open fields. We have a student population of approximately 225 students. Canalta has a positive and vibrant culture with a strong focus on relationships.
Our Staff consists of skilled, positive, and supportive professionals. We take priority in improving student achievement and well-being through high quality instruction, while honouring diversity and equity. At Canalta we value not only academic learning, but the development of social-emotional development of all our learners. Staff participate in on-going professional development and learning and a continuous cycle of examining achievement data and putting tiered interventions in place for students. We are also proud of our music program which further enhances the experiences of our students.
Our school offers extracurricular activities including comic book club, Lego club, intermediate volleyball, and basketball teams. Student Leadership groups undertake many jobs such as daily announcements, running our weekly PAWS draw, recycling, leading school assemblies, lunch monitoring, and buddy classes. Canalta has a very active parent group who work closely with staff and provide special opportunities for our students.

Required Qualifications And Experience
- Hold, or be qualified for, a valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate
- Successful K-12 teacher training and practicum or evaluation documentation
- Legally eligible to work in Canada

- Strong classroom management skills
- Experience working with students who display a variety of behaviours

- Capacity to work independently and in collaboration with a team
- Committed to individualized and group instruction utilizing a variety of effective strategies and techniques
- Experience teaching in a multiage group setting
- Engages in fair, student focused assessment practices consistent with the BC curriculum and reporting order, and reflects on evidence of learning to guide instruction

Benefits In Working For School District No. 59
- Relocation Allowance: Up to $5,000 for out of district applicants (with submission of approved receipts)
- Northern Travel Allowance: A Great Benefit at Tax Time! An amount of up to $4,000 of the salary paid to the employee shall be designated as a Northern Allowance Travel benefit. This allowance shall be in effect within the guidelines of Revenue Canada as they exist and are changed by Revenue Canada from year to year and shall end when the Revenue Canada program ends. Regular part time employees’ allowance will be prorated proportionate to the hours worked
- Remote and Rural Allowance: Teachers working in School District No. 59 are eligible to receive a remote and rural allowance, which is both an adjustment to the salary grid and an annual allowance of approximately $3,035* per FTE. Teachers on call (TOCs) are not eligible to receive this allowance
- The annual allowance may increase as defined within the Collective Agreement with the British Columbia Teachers Federation.
