Manager, Transaction Tax Services

Job Overview

BDO is currently hiring a Manager to join our growing Transaction Tax Services team. This role can be based at any of our Canadian locations.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Lead sell‑side and buy‑side tax due diligence engagements to identify, evaluate and quantify potential tax liabilities and exposures.
  • Work with vendors to mitigate exposures prior to a sale process and with legal counsel to review purchase and sale agreements.
  • Analyze complex tax issues to design tax‑efficient structures for strategic and private equity acquisitions, divestitures and reorganizations.
  • Collaborate on the design of Canadian and international private equity funds and related management structures.
  • Prepare technical deliverables outlining tax analysis and implications to clients.
  • Manage and mentor engagement team members and coordinate with team members across the country.
  • Maintain high‑level client relationships, build positive working relationships and provide effective support for engagements.
  • Contribute to successful recruitment of new talent and develop capabilities of less experienced staff through coaching, knowledge transfer, internal training delivery, and assignment of challenging work opportunities.
  • Support business development initiatives, primarily in the private equity space, and identify new opportunities with existing clients.

Qualifications

  • Completed CPA designation or LLB.
  • Completion of Master of Taxation or In‑depth Tax program and CPA Canada.
  • At least 5 years of professional services experience, with a period specializing in tax.
  • Experience working within M&A transactions and a keen interest in deepening this knowledge.
  • Strong problem‑solving, analytical and communication skills.
  • Teamwork orientation, commitment to client service, and meticulous attention to quality.
  • Experience identifying issues, developing solutions, managing client expectations and engagement economics, and leading teams.

Salary

Expected salary for this role is $92,000 to $138,000.
