Compensation and Benefits

Annual Salary Range: $77,080.00 - $96,350.00 (commensurate with experience)

Total Target Compensation: Total Target Compensation: $102,773.33 to $128,466.67 (TTC includes salary and potential variable compensation; variable compensation is based on 100% achievement* of targets)

Note: *Variable compensation potential maximum is 150% of target

The Role

Job Title: Senior Wealth Advisor | Financial Planner

Location: Sarnia, serving the Lambton County region

Required Qualification: Financial Planning Designation (CFP, QAFP, or PFP), and CIRO INV division licensed or licensable within 30 days of employment

Being a confident, high energy, self-starter, the Senior Wealth Advisor provides holistic financial planning advice and solutions to existing, new, and self-sourced Mainstreet members. Sales efforts must be consistent with corporate vision, mission, and strategic plan.

Internally the Senior Wealth Advisor works in close collaboration with the retail branch network and the commercial lending division to establish trusted internal relationships and raise the awareness and knowledge level of Mainstreet employees with respect to wealth management products, services, and strategies, leading to a steady stream of member referrals.

Externally, the Senior Wealth Advisor will have an active community presence, building Mainstreet's profile in the community as a professional and preferred provider of wealth management products, services, and expertise, leading to new wealth management and banking relationships.

This position requires a deep and thorough understanding of financial planning, investment products, the external markets, and the competition within their market.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Analyze and identify the needs of members and develop recommendations, supported by financial planning tools to assist members achieve their financial goals
• Provide financial planning advice to corporate and individual members, ensuring that member service and growth targets are being met
• Actively engage in member conversations to uncover other product and service opportunities and refer members, when appropriate, to other departments with a goal of expanding existing member base, wallet share, and development of new profitable member relationships
• Ensure sales processes favour and respect member objectives over sales targets
• Enhance the wealth management knowledge of Mainstreet advice team partners to assist them in creating an advice and planning experience that will meet their members needs
• Assist in preparation of plans for business development within the community and drive the sales management process through programs of outside calls, in-branch promotions and other activities designed to expand the existing member base
• Maintain high profile and visibility of Mainstreet Credit Union within the community
• Recommend and host financial planning seminars, provide content for Blog and Vlog posts
• Act as a resource for other Wealth Management Advisors for Financial Planning information, products and services
• Ensure policies and procedures are followed according to established guidelines and carry out responsibilities in an ethical manner
• Requires regular travel between assigned branches and to meet at offsite locations with members as necessary
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

• CIRO INV Division licensed or licensable
• Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Qualified Associate Financial Planner (QAFP), or Personal Financial Planner (PFP) designation
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial planning/investment sales with the ability to prepare written financial plans in accordance with FP Canada standard financial planning process
• Superior knowledge of the investment industry and products
• Comfortable with industry standard financial planning tools/software
• Use technology to enhance productivity
• Post-secondary diploma/degree, ideally in Commerce or Business Administration would be an asset
• Proven relationship management and sales effectiveness skills, able to identify member needs and match appropriate solutions
• Proven networking, relationship building, client acquisition and asset gathering abilities
• Superior sales abilities (active listening, identifying business opportunities, influencing & negotiating, asking for the business)
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Commitment to continuous education (CE credits)
• Proven organizational and time management abilities
• Experience with public speaking and comfortable with community engagement activities
