Build AI platform infrastructure with Python or Kotlin as a remote Senior Backend Engineer at Affirm, serving teams and production workloads.This senior-level role owns technical decisions and projects across design, launch, and on-call. You will build highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes. Your work supports LLM gateways, agent runtimes, evaluation services, identity, routing, caching, and failover controls.Key Responsibilities:
Design gateway, runtime, and evaluation services for production AI workloadsPlan projects and own decisions from design through launchBuild identity, quota, routing, caching, and failover controlsMonitor systems through metrics, alerts, runbooks, and on-callMentor engineers and improve design, coding, and testing practicesRequirements:
Four or more years designing backend systems at scaleExperience with Python or Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and KubernetesProduction experience with LLMs, agents, or AI frameworksEquivalent practical experience or a related Bachelor’s degreeStrong written and verbal communication for global collaborationBring distributed systems expertise and production AI experience to Affirm’s remote AI Platform team across Canada.
