Residential Estimator

Job Responsibility: Your Impact at Empire As a Residential Estimator, you will support the Low-Rise Procurement Team by performing a variety of functions including costing, budgeting, quantity takeoffs, and other measurement exercises as required. A thorough understanding of construction methods and materials used, and the ability to read construction drawings and other technical documents will be critical to success in this role. This role is located at our Empire Canada Homes Head Office in Vaughan, ON. What We Are Looking For:
  • Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or relevant field of study.
  • 5+ years of experience in the construction industry with purchasing as an asset.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Revit, AutoCAD), Microsoft Office Suite, and construction management software.
  • Skilled in interpreting construction drawings and other technical documents used in residential construction.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills to perform accurate calculations and assessments.
  • (CCA) Gold Seal Certification or Professional Quantity Surveyor designation is a plus

What You'll Be Doing Each Day
  • Conduct material takeoffs from plans and drawings to determine the quantities of labour and materials required for each project.
  • Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, negotiate pricing, and ensure the inclusion of all necessary costs in the final estimate.
  • Establish cost monitoring and reporting by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends to support leadership on business decisions.
  • Support the Procurement Team with various requests and assist with occasional cost-benefit analysis as required.
  • Visit low-rise construction job sites to identify opportunities to reduce cost, increase quality, and enhance scopes of work to support internal construction teams and trade partners.
  • Continually updates technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.
