The Role
An opportunity has arisen to join the Phlebotomy Department within the South Sector of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
The department provides a venepuncture service on behalf of all services within the Acute Division, supporting the timely diagnosis and treatment of patients.
This role is ideal for an individual with good communication and organisational skills who is committed to delivering a high-quality patient-focused service.
Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- This is a permanent post working part time hours, 20 hours per week
- These hours will be worked between 7:00 am and 11:00 am, 5 days out of 7, worked on a monthly rota
- You will be based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
- Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.
Key Responsibilities
As part of the Phlebotomy Department, you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality venepuncture service to wards across the Acute Division.
You will ensure blood specimens are collected and delivered to the laboratories within agreed target times, supporting the effective delivery of diagnostic services.
The role requires a professional approach, excellent time management and the ability to work efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient care.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Good standard of general education.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Phlebotomy/venepuncture experience is desirable.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a busy clinical environment.
- Commitment to delivering a high-quality patient-centred service.
