We are looking for two relationship-focused Small Business Advisors for our branches in either Cold Lake or Bonnyville, AB!

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Community Engagement

• Proactively develop long-term, profitable small business member relationships to optimize business and referral opportunities.
• Exhibit an entrepreneurial spirit while cultivating professional working relationships inside and outside the organization.
• Actively participate in internal and external events to promote Lakeland Credit Union and support community initiatives.

Relationship & Credit Management

• Build a deep understanding of each member's history, current financial status, and goals to provide individualized advice.
• Assess creditworthiness by gathering pertinent financial information and determining unique business needs.
• Underwrite and recommend small business loans for approval to the required authority level.

Portfolio & Risk Management

• Manage a dedicated portfolio of small business borrowers, handling daily decisions, new credit requests, and annual reviews.
• Structure and document credit and cash management arrangements for current and prospective members.
• Mitigate portfolio risk by managing delinquent accounts and maintaining systematic collection procedures for early problem identification.

️ Compliance & Industry Knowledge

• Ensure all activities comply with relevant legislation, regulations, and credit union policies to minimize errors.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all business lending products, services, documentation guidelines, and industry trends.
• Monitor marketplace influences and changing economic data to better advise small business members.

Organizational Teamwork

• Contribute to a working environment that stimulates exceptional internal and external member service.
• Balance daily priorities efficiently between business development, administration, and portfolio management.
• Promote organizational values , support team goals, and actively participate in performance planning and training.

More About You

We are looking for someone who combines financial expertise with a genuine passion for helping local businesses succeed. 

Qualifications include:

• Post-secondary degree in Business or other relevant combined education and experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in small business banking, lending, financial service and business development.
• Excellent relationship building and communication skills.
• Strong understanding of financial statements, applicable risk management policies and legal and security documentation for small business products.
• Proven ability to identify opportunities and grow a business portfolio.
• A commitment to providing exceptional member service.
