Senior Program Manager (Toronto)

Overview

Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT collaborates with partners across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions for clients in Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking, and Wealth Management. We lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration, aiming to challenge assumptions and think boldly.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage the execution of assigned projects, including scope negotiation, initiative ownership, milestones, and timelines.
• Apply appropriate change management processes to balance competing demands and priorities.
• Determine and convey the impact of changes on budget, time, and risk.
• Continuously identify potential issues, conflicts, and risks.
• Analyze, mitigate, and Escalate where appropriate.
• Manage project communications, including status reports to executives, stakeholders, business units, vendors, and project teams.
• Ensure delivery of solutions and services meets requirements, including internal security standards.
• Coach the Scrum team to apply appropriate processes for successful product development.
• Establish strong working relationships across technical and business units to build influence and impact with key partners.
• Collaborate with groups to define and achieve deliverables and ensure initiatives are integrated into RBC procedures and processes.
• Coordinate with the larger program team to ensure project compatibility and align the schedule of deliverables and finances.

Requirements

• Must Haves:
  • 7+ years of progressive project management experience, handling projects ranging from $250K to $2M, or 5 years managing large programs/portfolios totaling $1M to $5M.
  • Experience with Agile Scrum or Kanban methodology.
  • Ability to function as a Scrum Master, fostering self‑organization and shielding the team from distractions to focus on sprint goals.
  • Understanding and application of Scrum principles and approaches by the development team and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, project coordination, and time‑management capabilities.
  • Ability to articulate complex issues concisely and communicate effectively at all management levels.
  • Deadline‑driven and results‑oriented, consistently meeting high‑quality standards while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good working knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, MS Project, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
• Nice‑To‑Have:
  • Advanced command of Microsoft Office, including pivot tables and macros.
  • PMP (or similar) certification.
  • Knowledge of financial capital markets and associated products.
  • Compliance and regulatory experience.
  • Certifications in financial products such as CSC, CFA, or FRM.
