Senior Project Manager, ICAT - FT-0280) (Toronto)

Position Summary

Senior Project Manager – ICAT at North York General (NYG) will oversee the planning and delivery of Information, Communication and Automation Technology (ICAT) for capital development projects. The role is part of NYG’s largest redevelopment and expansion effort, which includes a new Long‑term Care Development, a new Patient Care Tower, and several other strategic priorities. The Senior Project Manager will provide strategic leadership across the full project lifecycle, ensuring that ICAT requirements are integrated with capital redevelopment initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the work of project teams, including hospital staff, consultants and contractors, throughout the project lifecycle in accordance with hospital requirements and applicable codes, standards and legislation.
  • Plan, design, procure, implement, commission, and prepare ICAT projects for operational readiness, including feasibility studies, design reviews, procurement of systems and equipment, and post‑occupancy evaluation.
  • Coordinate ICAT requirements with Digital Health, Facilities Management, Security, Fire and Life Safety, Information Security, and other stakeholders to ensure project‑level decisions align with current operational needs, corporate policies and the digital health strategy.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and provide regular communication on deliverables, risks, issues and decision requirements.
  • Manage project scope, budget, schedule, risk, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead and coordinate consultants, contractors and vendors, ensuring contractual and hospital policies and requirements (e.g., Infection Prevention and Control) are met.
  • Support the development and management of change‑management plans and other strategies that support project success.
  • Lead or support project close‑out and post‑occupancy evaluation, including performance measures and lessons learned.
  • Participate in the preparation of Request for Qualifications, Request for Proposal and Request for Tender documents for consulting, ICAT systems, equipment and construction services.
  • Assist in securing Municipal, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Long‑Term Care approvals and reporting where applicable.
  • Make timely decisions to maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Conduct and attend project team meetings (Steering Committee, Project Working Groups). Maintain an accurate and efficient monitoring and record system for ICAT planning, including drawings, specifications, correspondence, approvals, budgets, schedules, commissioning and progress notes.
  • Develop and enforce departmental policies, procedures and workflows related to ICAT planning and implementation.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Health Informatics, Electrical Engineering, Project Management or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience, with at least 2 years in a healthcare setting focused on ICAT planning and implementation for capital projects.
  • Experience managing multiple simultaneous capital projects.
  • Knowledge of healthcare facility design and operations, including applicable legislation, regulations and standards such as the Ontario Building Code and CSA Z8000.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of information technologies used in a healthcare setting and the ability to implement complex technology projects.
  • Familiarity with procurement and contract management practices, including writing RFP documents, negotiation, contract administration and conflict resolution.
  • Leadership and consensus‑building skills with a patient and family focus.
  • Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of Photoshop, Canva and AutoCAD is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, combined with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Certifications such as PMP and ITIL are an asset.
