The Role

We are currently seeking a talented Digital Content Creator to join our Secret Montréal team! As part of a dynamic and rapidly expanding startup environment, this role offers an opportunity for a creative, social-first content creator to reach a large and highly engaged audience. We are seeking someone who can create engaging, original content about life, culture, events, tips, and trends in Montréal for our platforms.

The primary focus of this role will be creating social-first content and growing our audience across social media platforms, with additional responsibilities in written content, editorial support, and website management.

What You’ll Do

• Create engaging, original video content about life, culture, events, trends, and things to do in Montréal for Secret Media Network's digital platforms.
• Cover events, attractions, openings, and breaking local stories across Montréal.
• Lead the creation of social-first video content from ideation to publication, including planning, filming, editing, and optimizing videos for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other emerging platforms.
• Develop and execute platform-specific content strategies to grow Secret Montréal's social media presence, reach new audiences, and increase engagement and followers.
• Monitor and analyze content performance, using audience insights and engagement metrics to identify opportunities, refine content strategies, and improve results.
• Appear on camera as a presenter when required, conducting interviews and creating audience-focused storytelling content.
• Stay up-to-date with social media trends, platform updates, and audience behaviors to continuously improve content performance.
• Collaborate closely with editorial, social media, and commercial teams to develop content that drives engagement and audience growth.
• Support the editorial team with written content as needed, including writing, reviewing, and editing articles to ensure content is clear, engaging, accurate, and aligned with Secret Montréal's editorial standards.
• Help maintain and update the website's homepage as needed, ensuring content is timely, relevant, and aligned with current events, editorial priorities, and audience interests.

Who You Are

We're looking for someone who:

• Possesses native-level proficiency in written and spoken English and French.
• Has proven experience producing professional-quality scripted and unscripted videos, supported by a showreel and portfolio of previous work (relevant social media links accepted as well).
• Holds a Bachelor's degree or similar in Film, Design, Communication, or a related field.
• Demonstrates confidence in writing video scripts and has strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to write and review articles and adapt content for different audiences and platforms.
• Has proven experience creating content for social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, with a strong understanding of platform-specific formats, audience behaviors, and content strategies that drive engagement and growth.
• Understands how to grow social media audiences organically, using platform insights, performance analysis, trends, and creative experimentation to improve reach, engagement, and follower growth.
• Exhibits a strong understanding of digital media trends and knows what makes content engaging and shareable online.
• Can work independently as well as within a team.
• Is willing to work outside office hours and meet tight deadlines when necessary (always within contractual duties and rights).
• Is passionate about Montréal city life and the topics we cover.
• Is proactive, takes on tasks with a can-do attitude, and sees them through to completion.
• Is comfortable appearing on camera.

Preferred Skills

• Proficiency in Premiere Pro, CapCut, Photoshop, and Media Encoder (After Effects is a plus).
• Comfortable creating video and still imagery using digital cameras such as Sony Alpha series, iPhone, etc.
• Knowledge of digital media, including codecs, image types, resolutions, frame rates, and the latest digital workflows.
• Experience conducting interviews and appearing in front of the camera.
• Understanding of basic color correction, sound design, and audio mixing using tools such as Premiere Pro and Audition.
• Experience with motion graphics, titling, and diverse video formats such as cinemagraphs, GIFs, and typographical animation are a plus.
• Experience with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and homepage publishing workflows is a plus.
